Surprise!

My family threw a surprise birthday party for my Dad today! He turned 60 on August 20th! My sister Jodie had told him that we were thinking of going to a splash park by their house and then wanted to go out for dinner for his birthday. Pretty good. We all met at the splash park in Panorama Hills at the little community hall there.

My dad was pretty surprised when he showed up!

Most of his family were able to make it from all the way from Edmonton and Cardston!

We had beef on a bun for dinner and then cake from Costco!

It was really nice to see everyone there.

I think the kids had a lot of fun too...

Happy 60th birthday Dad!!

Izzie

I talked Dan into letting me get a kitten. So he let me get one as my anniversary gift from him! She is soooo adorable! She has an extra toe on each paw, so it looks like she has little mittens on her front feet. She is an orange and white Tabby with black markings on her head and back (Calico). I really can't get enough of her! Chester was a bit uneasy when we first brought her home on Saturday. We heard him actually hiss, and he never hisses. But now that it's been a few days, they are inseparable, and Chester is back to not hissing. Izzie follows Chester around all day and she's so interested in what he'll do next. I think Chester is pretty happy now that he has someone to play with when we're not home. Izzie also is getting used to Gunther. She wasn't too sure about him at first, but they are doing just fine now.

Welcome to the family Izzie!

2 Year Anniversary

Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary! I can't believe it has already come and gone. Time flies!

The day was ok. It was a Monday morning to start things off, so not the greatest. I was super busy at work all day. I even worked through my lunch and a little over time. I didn't want to have to stay too late because I knew that Dan had something planned. He didn't tell me what it was, but I knew we were going to go out for dinner. So after I got home, he told me to "look nice" for dinner, because sometimes it's fun to dress up. Then he told me we were going to Arby's. Just like how Puddy and Elaine off of Seinfeld always go on dates to Arby's, and Elaine gets the Roast Beef. Too funny! So we were on the road headed downtown, and we ended up going to the Calgary Tower for dinner!! Don't get me wrong, I've been to the Calgary Tower before, but never to eat there. So many people have told me that they would take me, and they never did. You know who you are. I was so excited! We got an awesome booth so that both of us were facing the window the whole time. We even spotted the building that we live in!

It's right in the middle of the two tall buildings. The red with white balconies. Can you see it?

I had the Pork, and Dan got the Chicken. Both meals were so delicious... and expensive. We spent a lot there, and we didn't even get dessert or fancy drinks. But it was fun to do for our special occasion. I love you Dan!

Glenn Family Vacation '09

It all started August 2 when we finally got on the road and headed for Spokane, WA. We left in the afternoon on a Sunday and drove for about 8 hours to our hotel. In the morning, we were on the road again and 6 hours later found ourselves at our destination at a place about an hour and change from Portland, OR called Rockaway Beach. Dan's parents rented a beach house for this vacation as all of our Christmas gifts this past Christmas, and what a beach house it was!! It was literally right on the beach. The room that Dan and I slept in, we could see and hear the ocean all night long as we were laying in bed. It was so awesome! This house had 5 large bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

Dan and I arrived Monday evening and ate Tacos for dinner. We toured the house and then the beach. The next day it was overcasted, so no one thought to wear sunscreen. We went out to Cannon Beach that was just north of us and hung out there for most of the day. Almost everyone got sunburnt. Chris (Dan's oldest sister, Pam's husband) had to leave that night to go back to work. He is an ER Doctor, so his hours are quite demanding. Wednesday we woke up, had breakfast and Jackie's husband David came to join us for a day. We all went the opposite way (south) from Rockaway Beach and went to the Cheese Factory! There we toured around and afterwards got ice cream.

Then we went to a small light house. We got to go inside too! Close by was a tree called "The Octopus Tree". It was much bigger in real life. The view right across from the tree was so beautiful.

We then headed into town (Ocean View, I think) and we shopped around there with everyone for awhile. Then everyone headed back for the house, but Dan and I Stayed back and we rented a bike car thingy (I don't know what they're called). We rode around for about 10 minutes before I was absolutely exhausted! I know I'm out of shape. We rented this thing for a whole hour! So about half way through, we went back and traded in for something a little easier to ride. It was a lot of fun! On our way home, Dan and I noticed a helicopter tour on the side of the road, for $39.99! That's not a bad price! So when we got back to the house, we looked it up online and called them up. Turns out that's the price for a 5 minute tour. Which still would have been super cool, but we thought maybe another time.

Thursday was our last full day there. In the morning after breakfast we went to a beach about 5 minutes north and found a whole bunch of star fish! We also found a little crab hiding under a rock. It was such a cool place! We decided that we all wanted to come back that same day when the tide was out to see even more. We went back to the house and just relaxed. We flew a couple kites with the kids on the beach and Dan and I were brave enough to go into the really cold water. It was such a blast! Later on after we played a couple games and ate dinner, we ended up going back to the starfish beach and it started raining while we were there. We didn't really see anything new, other than this baby bird. We first saw him when Dan noticed this seagull pecking at something. So we went over there and scared off the seagull and this little bird didn't fly away from us. We aren't sure what kind of bird he is, but I don't think he lasted too much longer after I got this video. So sad.

We went back home to Rockaway Beach and showered then shortly after went to bed for the last time there. We all decided that we are going to try to do this every year from now on because everyone had such a fun time! I can't wait for next year!

Blink

The best concert I've been to so far. I know I haven't been to very many, but wow! The drum solo that Travis did at the end, was just unreal! This was such a fun time!

All American Rejects were the first to open the concert. They were playing when we arrived. Next was Fall Out Boy. What an excellent combination for a concert!

Sorry for the picture quality. I used my Blackberry rather than my camera that never works.

All American Rejects

Fall Out Boy

BLINK 182

There were so many people there!

This was at the end when Travis did his drum solo. Can you see him flying in the air?

He was flying in the air and then started spinning!

He's so good.

The last song of the night.

I'll always remember this concert. It was the first time I was ever offered weed. Don't worry, I said no to drugs.

An Escape For Us

Ok, we didn't last very long with just one car. This is the newest member of our family... sort of.

This isn't the exact picture of ours. We have one with a roof rack.

A 2005 Ford Escape XLT 4x4. We got this so Dan can haul his DJ equipment without renting a car. This should save us some money in the long run. We are pretty excited about it.

Cartoon Kelly

My brother in law, Mike drew this of me a few years ago. What do you think? I'm pretty sure this is Dan's favorite picture of me.

Chester LOVES Dan

This is a video that I captured Chester doing while we were laying in bed. Here`s a bit of background before you watch it. Chester is obsessed with Dan. He loves everything about him... even the gross things. We sometimes catch Chester rolling around in Dan`s dirty laundry just to get Dan`s smell all over him. And when he`s laying in bed with him, he`ll sick his head in his armpit just for the smell. Gross I know. So in this video, Dan had just gone jogging and put his sweaty jogging clothes on the side of his laundry basket and Chester started doing this thinking we couldn`t see him:

Sold

Over the weekend we did something kind of out of the blue. We didn't really plan on doing it, or at least doing it so fast. On Friday night Dan put his car up for sale on kijiji.ca at about 11:00pm. The next day he received about 30 emails in response to his post! The first people who came to look at it on Saturday at about 8:00pm were the ones who bought it, despite all the work that really needed to be done on it. Dan's car sold in under 24 hours! And it wasn't even running that well. Who would have thought?!

My car took a lot longer than that. We sold my car almost exactly a year ago. We had 3 cars at the time because we had just purchased our Toyota Matirx. My car was a '95 Honda Civic Hatchback. It was really good to us.

It's kind of sad for me to see Dan's car go because that was the car that Dan has always had while he's been with me. It was the car that he came to pick me up with on our first date together. It was the car that he drove back and forth from Lethbridge to Calgary while we were dating. Oh well, we're moving on... with one car.

Beef 'n' Barley Days

This weekend was Beef 'n' Barley Days for the town of Carstairs. This year Dan and I woke up early to head to Carstairs early to make it for the Pancake Breakfast, which was so delicious! After the breakfast was the Parade. Here are a few pictures I captured:

After the Parade, there are activities like children's races, a pet show, a trade show, and many other things like that. This year they added something new to the list which was a helicopter ride over the town! We really wanted to look into it, but by the end of the day we had forgotten and already started for home. Oh well, maybe next year they'll have it again. We walked up and down main street and stopped at the Pet Store and the owner brought out a 4 year old snake! He let us pet it too! So crazy! She even wrapped herself around him and stuck the end of her tail in his back pocket. We then headed to Burger Baron. This Burger Baron is the best one ever! It's a special treat every chance we get! At my parents' home we visited and the kids played with water balloons and on the trampoline in the back yard. It was kind of weird not having them there this year as they were at a family reunion down south. Everyone had a really good time!
